Isoflux has been granted approval for patent  US 8002822, “Radiopaque Coating for Biomedical Devices”.  This patent allows us to license our VisTa coating to you for use on your implantable medical devices.  Originally developed to render NITINOL peripheral vascular stents completely radiopaque, we have now shown that this nanoscale porous-columnar coating structure can also be used to deliver drugs without polymers.  This drug delivery capability can be used for orthopedic implants to provide antimicrobial treatment and is also currently being investigated for treatment of esophageal cancer.

Isoflux has recently demonstrated the ability to deposit our radiopaque nanoporous tantalum coating on PEEK.  This opens up the door for VisTa to be applied to orthopedic devices for enhancement of osseointegration.  Our proprietary coating process prevents melting and deformation of the polymer.  Contact us for more information.

Isoflux CTO Dave Glocker will chair a session on Vacuum Processes and Coatings for Biomedical Applications at the 2012 SVC Conference in Santa Clara April 28 through May 3.
